The stock rod Scottish Championship turned out to be a cracking race with Jonathan Lattka and David Philp fighting it out over most of the race with Lattka just getting to the line first to become the new champion.
There was drama in the race when Michael Bethune and Chris Lattka clashed on the pit bend with Lattka spinning and both drivers were
removed from the grid.
Ryan Muirhead ended up rolling his saloon after trying to clamber over another car and came to rest against the big marker tyre and on top of another car!
There was also drama in the hot rods after Billy Bonnar was sent spinning and wasn’t allowed to restart after being the cause of the stoppage.

BURGOYNE ON SONG
There was another good turn out of formula II drivers, which included visitors Dave Pannett, Tom Adcroft, Dan Moss and David Parker whilst most of the Scottish World Championship qualified drivers were in action. Gordon Moodie brought out his shale car to make sure that it was running and handling to his liking.
Heat one saw Chris Burgoyne go through to win from Alan Kirkaldy and Robbie Dawson. Heat two ended with Burgoyne winning from George MacMillan Jnr and Dennis Middler.
When the final started Gregor Turner moved into the lead with Tam Meikle and Ian Forster in close order. Moss was slowly catching them but he in turn was being caught by Burgoyne.
On lap nine Burgoyne was ahead with Turner beginning to drop down the order as the faster drivers began to make up ground.
There was to be no stopping Burgoyne who went through to win from MacMillan Jnr and Kirkaldy.
Due to time restrictions the Grand National was cancelled.

ACTION PACKED SALOON RACES
There was another good turn out of saloon drivers and as usual there was no shortage of action. With the high light being Muirhead’s roll.
Heat one saw Willie Mitchell go through to win from Ian McLaughlin and Stuart Shevill Jnr. In heat two Barry Russell got the verdict but there was a big coming together on the pit bend which saw a few of the leading cars shunt resulting in Muirhead’s car left perched on its side. Quite a few cars had to be towed off the track as a result of the pit bend shunt, whilst Glen Heeps ended up in second place with Derek Duff third.
The final ended with Stuart Drobinski winning although he had been spun early on and then was aided by a race suspension, from Gordon Alexander and Shevill Jnr.

CLASSIC RACING
There was a disappointing turn out of drivers for the Scottish with no fewer than five drivers who had booked in failing to appear.
As a result there were only five drivers in for the last chance qualifying race whish was won easily by Kevin Rist.
The stock rod Scottish grid was a drawn one and paired James Matson and Jordan  Wright on the first row, row two was shared by the Lattka, Chris and Jonathan with David Philp on row four and the European Champion Kerr Paterson on row seven.
The race proved to be quite an exciting one with Wright going straight into the lead from Matson and the Lattkas, Jonathan and Chris.  Matson moved ahead on lap two but then a four car shunt on the pit bend suspended the race on lap four. When the race restarted Matson led from J. Lattka but Philp had moved up to fourth but on lap seven Bethune and C. Lattka tangled on the pit bend suspending the race once again.
J. Lattka was the new leader but he had Philp in close order whilst Paterson had moved from row seven in third. Over most of the remainder of the race J. Lattka and Philp put on a cracking display of racing with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions with the drivers allowing each other space to race. With two laps remaining Philp, who was ahead, suddenly slowed and in a flash J. Lattka was through into the lead and on to grab the John Birrell and Son sponsored Scottish Championship. Philp limped home in second as did Paterson in third.
Philp won the stock rod final which was stopped early after a major shunt with Paterson in second and Stuart Elder third.

A BRIEF FLASH OF LIGHTNING
In the Lightning Rods Chris Dearn and Lindsay Wilson were the heat winners whilst Alan Conroy claimed the final from Dearn with Wilson
disqualified after his bonnet blew up across the windscreen.

CALLENDER WINS THE FINAL
The hot rods were contesting another World Championship qualifying round sponsored by Fife Engine Services.
Heat one saw Billy Bonnar go through to win from Graeme Callender and Craig McLaren. Heat two saw exactly the same result but with Bonnar out, Callender went on to win from Wayne Lee and Graeme Gordon.
