Thankfully Gordon Moodie went through to a rather fortunate win in the formula II World Championship qualifying round at Knockhill on Wednesday night capitalizing when the leading car started to misfire and he was able to go through to win.
Somehow the rain managed to stay off but towards the end of the meeting a drizzle had started to fall. The racing proved to be quite exciting throughout the meeting.

MOODIE’S LUCKY WIN!
In the formula IIs there were 29 cars including Paul and John Broatch, Geoff Forster and Sam Wagner from the North East of England and Tom Adcroft from the Midlands.
P. Broatch brought out his new chassis but was involved in a shunt during the opening heat and had to load up.
Chris Burgoyne, Ian Forster and John Broatch had earlier won the heats and when the final started Forster was soon ahead whilst at the tail of the grid it didn’t take Burgoyne long to get into his stride. Burgoyne quickly got ahead of Rob Speak but Moodie was closing in on both.  Burgoyne was ahead just after the half distance with Moodie coming into second three laps later. However it looked as if Burgoyne was going on to win only for his car to start to misfire and this allowed Moodie through into the lead and on to a narrow win.
Burgoyne was back to win the Grand National from Robbie Dawson and Wagner with Moodie ending up in eighth place.

A HEEPS DOUBLE
The saloon drivers treated the fans top plenty of dicing with Glen Heeps winning heat one after Stuart Shevill Jnr was disqualified.
Shevill Jnr was back out for heat two which he won but was sent crashing out during the final after something broke at the front of the car. Heeps led the race for most of the time and led home Gordon Alexander and Stevie Triggs.

ANOTHER GORDON WIN
The Stock Rods were in good form with Michael Bethune and Jonathan Lattka the heat winners.
Stuart Elder was spun right at the start of the final with Dean Gordon moving into the lead and despite the European Champion Kerr Paterson closing the gap held on to win with Bethune in third.

TWO FOR NIMMO BUT THREE FOR McKENZIE
The hot rods and lightning rods were grouped together with the hot rods starting with a lap handicap. Lindsay Wilson won the opening heat with Ronnie McKenzie on his tail as they crossed the line in his hot rod.
Derek Nimmo took his lightning rod to a heat two win whilst McKenzie was the first hot rod home.
In the final Nimmo went on to win easily but Craig McLaren was to spin out of the lead with his hot rod allowing McKenzie to score a hat trick of wins.
