The winter meeting at the Cowdenbeath Racewall saw plenty of action, certainly in the van bangers where in the destruction derby most of the vans were wrecked as Bob Greig went through to win.
Newcomer Mhairi Robertson won the ministox final as well as the Chas Charity shield whilst Jamie Connacher won the Allcomers race – his first as well!
The Dream Team of Ian and John Taylor, Tam Melrose (Mayfield) and Patrick Calderwood won the prostox team races although all the points were scored by the Taylors.

NEWCOMER ROBERTSON WINS CHAS CHARITY TROPHY

The minis started the show rolling with Dale Buchan running away with the opening heat to win from Connacher and Kieran Howie. In heat two Liam Rennie sent Buchan wide as he took the honours leading home Arran McGowan and Buchan.
When the final started Robertson went straight into the lead from Connacher and Craig Murray whilst on the opening lap Gemma Russell was sent bouncing off the wall by Rennie. Buchan moved from the back of the reds to the lead red before closing in on A. McGowan. Russell was again sent spinning by Rennie but at the front Robertson had a healthy lead over Connacher. Buchan moved into third and began to close whilst over the closing laps Connacher started to reel in the leader. However Robertson held on to win the Chas Charity shield from Connacher and Buchan.
Connacher then went on to win the Allcomers race from Buchan and Rennie.

THE DREAM TEAM WINS!

There were three prostox teams with a driver from each team in a group of cars with the drivers points being added and the top scoring team winning the trophy.
Heat one saw Aly McDonald of Team Carnage win from Craig Strathie (Tranent) and Ian Taylor but only after there had been a race stoppage after Melrose sent one of the other team’s drivers crashing out of the race. Heat two saw McDonald again come out on top this time finishing ahead of Ricky White and I. Taylor.
The final saw the Dream Team stamp their authority on the proceedings with John Taylor going though to win from I. Taylor and McDonald.
I. Taylor then won his first race of the afternoon when he came out on top in the Allcomers winning from McDonald and Stuart Graham.

VAN ACTION GALORE!

The van banger drivers were in good form although Iain Borthwick was on the receiving end of a few knocks which saw him spinning on more than one occasion.
Chris Harkess won heat one from Willie Mitchell and Bob Greig but it was the latter who then came out on top in heat two leading home
Mitchell and Borthwick.
In the final Greig got through into an early lead but was caught and sent spinning by Harkess and then collected by Garry Glen. After that Harkess pulled away to win from Greig and Borthwick.
Marc Lumsden was the first to be wrecked in the destruction derby and then on the pit bend Glen was caught and spun by Harkess although he in turn trapped the latter against the wall. The others piled in and in the end there were a couple of hard head on shunts between Greig and Mitchell before the latter’s van cried enough.
