Turner's Talk - 13th September 2008

LOOSE WHEEL McVAY

After his hot rod shed a wheel during heat two Pete McVay was heard to be singing “You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel” as he was towed back to his trailer in the pits. McVay didn’t reappear for the final so perhaps he was too busy collecting the coins from his rendition or perhaps not!

LINDEN’S SCOTTISH- AGAIN

Tam Linden is having a glory time of it just now in the prostox having just added the Scottish Championship to the World Cup win he had the last time out. Coupled to that Linden is ahead in the track points championship so he could well be on for a hat trick of titles this year!

MOODIE IN THE POINTS

Gordon Moodie extended his lead in the formula II National Points championship by scoring 29 points and with Chris Bradbury not racing, has increased his lead over him. In the track points Moodie is now some 118 points clear of John Fortune who has Robbie Dawson and Paul Ford closing in.

FORMULA II WORLD FINAL

This Sunday the formula II drivers are racing at Bristol for the formula II World Championship where we have Gordon Moodie on pole position with Barry Goldin alongside whilst behind Neal Smith and Stuart Kelly share row 2. Other Scots on the grid are Paul Ford, Robbie Dawson, Dennis Middler and Trevor Harris. The opening laps could be decisive depending on who gets in a telling challenge on the first bend and then who survives the restarts!

SCOTTISH FOR STOCK RODS

This Saturday we have the Scottish Championship for stock rods and that could certainly be an interesting race. There are numerous drivers who could end up with the title with favourites at this stage being Robert McDonald and David Philp. However Martin McLean, Stewart Armit and David Frame cannot be discounted but in a race of this importance there are plenty of other drivers who could well spoil their party.
