BURGOYNE TAKES FINAL IN THE WET

Despite the wet and miserable conditions Chris Burgoyne went through to win the formula II final, making light of the treacherous conditions.
Not only was it wet but the track was liberally coated with oil and straying off the racing line spelt danger. Burgoyne had to miss the opening lap shunt but once he got into his stride he moved into the lead just after the half distance before winning from Gordon Moodie.

FORTUNE WINS WHITE/YELLOW FINAL

Marc Fortune picked up his first title in the formula IIs when he came out on top in the final of the white/yellow challenge series. Fortune had moved through into third place but was quite a distance behind the leading two cars. However one spun sending the other into a spin leaving Fortune well clear of the field and on to victory.

ACTION PACKED SALOONS IN THE WET

The saloon drivers were in top form on Saturday night making light of the conditions although during the final they found grip almost zero after oil had been spread around the track.
Barry Russell and Gordon Alexander had a good dice for the lead during heat two which Alexander just managed to win whilst the final saw Luke Grief join in the fun making it a three car dice for the win. Grief led, dropped back and then got himself back in front and despite a last bend challenge held on to win.

CAMIE RETAINS TURNER TROPHY

Camie McGowan snatched victory right at the death during the ministox third heat and in doing so went through to retain the Turner trophy.
Earlier Lindsay Norrie and Dale Buchan had won the previous heats and not long after heat three started Buchan was quickly through into the lead initially chased by Kyle Russell. Over the closing laps McGowan began to close and on the last lap closed right onto the back bumper of Buchan. McGowan pushed hard going into the pit bend got Buchan wide before nipping through to win.

THRELKELD TAKES UNLIMITED BANGER SCOTTISH

There was a disappointing turn out of banger drivers for their Scottish Championship  and once the race started it was dominated by Matty Threlkeld who had team mate Steve Allan running in close order.
Three cars piled up on the top bend soon to be joined by another and as the field dwindled it left the leaders clear of the others and they were able to cruise round to the chequer without too many problems.
In the DD there was an almighty head on between Dave Carswell and Thomson which put paid to both cars and the race was declared as a dead heat.

WHITE/YELLOW SALOON FINAL

Tonight the saloon drivers will be contesting their white/yellow challenge final which will hopefully bring out a good turn out of drivers.
Ally Strachan and Kyle Hegg should be the pre race favourites but you can never rule out Alan Ainslie whilst Ryan Muirhead has been quite sprightly of recent.

SCOTTISH FOR HOT RODS

As the season draws to a close there are quite a few major titles still to be decided and tonight it’s the turn of the hot rods with their Scottish Championship up for grabs.
This year Billy Bonnar has been the driver to beat and as a result he has racked up a big points haul in the World Championship qualifying rounds.
As is stands just now I can’t see Bonnar being beaten but then that is probably a reporters curse – I’ll just say that the Madman told me to write it!
