Turners Talk 16th April 2011
ROCKIN AND ROLLED BUT CARRIED ON!
There was plenty of action from the banger drivers on Saturday night with Simon Heilds the only one who rolled his car. Heilds had a bit of help going into the pit bend, rode the wall before his car rolled coming to rest on all four wheels. No sooner had it landed than Heilds shoved it back into gear and carried on with the race!
There was a big shunt in one of the heats which blocked the track and then later on cars hit the infield Armco at high speed and created havoc.
Rob Speak was taken out hard in the World Cup when leading and after a lot of work in the pits had a wheel removed from his car just after the race had started!
WILSON’S NEW MOUNT
Ex-saloon and now lightning rod driver Lindsay Wilson was showing off his new car - a dodgem! It seemed to fit him fine but he was struggling to get any power out of it!
SHEVILL’S FINAL
Stuart Shevill Jnr had plenty of work to do in between the first and second heat after a shunt but made it and picked up a good result. However in the final he benefitted from a race suspension to take the lead and once there on to claim his second final win in succession.
REDDEN’S WORLD CUP
Ian Redden had a quiet World Cup yet came away as the winner! Redden started in the mid order and somehow managed to miss all the shunts that went on all around him. Once Rob Speak was removed from the race, Redden found himself in third and when the leaders clashed he suddenly found himself out in front and clear of the pack. A few laps later he was greeted by the chequer and the World Cup winner!
HOT ROD WORLD QUALIFYING RACE
Tonight the hot rods are taking part in another of their World Championship qualifying rounds and hopefully we will see all the challengers and perhaps a few more filling the grid. Billy Bonnar is the present leader but he is only six points clear of Graeme Gordon with Gary Black a further 2 points adrift.
