MOODIE/BURGOYNE SERVE UP CLOSE RACING
Gordon Moodie and Chris Burgoyne served up some classic formula II racing on Saturday night and whilst Burgoyne won three races Moodie outscored him thanks to a runners up spot in the GN.
The track was wet throughout the meeting with Burgoyne taking heat one by a couple of cars lengths or so and whilst he won in heat two, Moodie had managed to get ahead of a lap or so only for Burgoyne to get him wide before going on to make it two wins on the trot.
Moodie got ahead early on during the final and whilst Burgoyne chased as hard as he could he just couldn’t stop Moodie from his fourth Racewall win.
Burgoyne’s win during the GN was comfortable with Moodie coming through to second spot although he benefited from a race suspension.
TARTS ON TOUR
The TARTS are on tour again but this time only Paul Butcher and Nathan Maidment have been brave enough to face the Scottish weather. After Saturday night they are heading to Crimond and then to Knockhill and hopefully back to the Racewall before heading home.
McLAUGHLIN TAKES SALOON FINAL
Neil McLaughlin got himself back into the winner’s circle on Saturday night when he dominated the saloon final. McLaughlin moved into the lead around the half distance and then eased himself away from the chasing pack, going on to win his first final in an age comfortably.
RENNIE GRABS THREE
Liam Rennie is certainly the form Ministox driver at present and on Saturday night dominated the first three Ministox races – winning all three. He might have made it four had he not been boxed in behind a slower car and by the time he broke clear was well adrift.
Rennie didn’t have it all his own way and each time he had to fight for his win but when the chequer did appear he was at the head of the queue.
TWINS ON TRACK!
For the first time at the Racewall the Honeyman twins were on track with Louise joining her sister Claire in action.
Louise got a ninth place in heat one before suffering an injury in a shunt whilst later Claire got herself into the points with finishes in heats two and four.
EUROPEAN FOR STOCK RODS
Tonight’s big event is the stock rod European Championship and hopefully there will be a good turn out of cars for the event.
It looks at this stage that Adam O’Dell and Stuart Fox have intimated their appearance with the latter a strong candidate to grab a win.
Home hopes are high of keeping the European Championship at the Racewall with David Philp, Robert McDonald and Kerr Paterson all strong contenders.
Jonathan Lattka is another who cannot be ruled out and although he has only raced once at the Racewall you can never rule out Chris Lattka in a championship race.
Let’s hope that it is a good race with the winner keeping the title and not losing out post race!
