Turners Talk 2nd April 2011

McGOWAN’S FIRST RACEWALL WIN

It was Arran not Camie McGowan who grabbed the headlines in the minis on Saturday night, in what was his first Racewall meeting.
Starting from the back of the grid in heat one he finished in eighth but opted to start from the front in heat two which he led for a good
few laps. After being pushed wide he then had a few “hairy moments” clouting the wall hard on a couple of occasions and taking a very
adventurous line around the pit bend. However he did finish but down in sixth. In heat three he hit the front when the green dropped and was still there at the end, even although the race was somewhat shortened!

ROCKIN’ AND ROLLIN’

There was no shortage of action on Saturday night with three rollovers and two that were oh so close!
Dean Gordon tail ended the wall entering the pit bend which sent his car rolling just in front of the pack with his car sliding down the
track on its roof!
In the minis Kieran Howie rolled in heat two whilst Shelly Taylor had a big rollover on the pit bend in heat three going in hard with another two cars! Then newcomers Colin Thomson and Aaran McGowan rode the pit bend wall and how they didn’t roll beats me!
Dale Buchan was sent crashing into the pit bend wall whilst Erin Clyne was caught by another driver and taken along the main straight.
Jordan Wright had the front end of his stock rod rearranged after getting a sideways push which sent him crashing into the infield tyres!
Luckily all drivers escaped relatively unhurt but a little bruised!

GRANT’S WIN

Andy Grant started the season well with his stock rod, easily qualifying for the final. Grant started well and moved into fourth which became third when Derek Conner slowed. Once he caught and moved ahead of Leon Stewart, he was able to open up a gap before going
through to win.

BURGOYNE’S FINAL SUCCESS

Chris Burgoyne chalked up a good points total on Saturday night, 45 if my arithmetic is correct, but more importantly won the Causewayside garage sponsored final, collecting a tyre from John Fortune to boot!  Burgoyne was certainly in good form with his Randall chassis picking up two wins, a second and a third!

McCRORY’S SUCCESS

Ryan McCrory was a welcome visitor from Northern Ireland and his journey was made all that better when he won heat two, picking up his first Racewall win. However he didn’t catch the long time leader Marc Fortune until late on and it was a last bend challenge which got him through to his win.
In the GN however he clipped the pit bend wall and ended up breaking a half shaft.

LATE START!

It’s a late start tonight due to the football match where local rivals Dunfermline are the visitors. Don’t expect any access to the stadium until all the fans have left the High Street so we could find stock cars parked from here to goodness knows where.
